This page covers the mods installed on our Valheim server: what they do, which exact versions you need, and how to install them.
The mods are currently switched off. They are installed on the server but disabled, so the server is running vanilla Valheim right now. You can join without any mods.
Only install the mods once the admin says they're on. After that, the server refuses anyone who doesn't have the exact same ValheimPlus version. The error is doesn't have the correct Valheim Plus version.
The server controls all ValheimPlus settings. It sends them to you when you join, so you don't need to change any config. Right now only the inventory settings are on:
Other storage sizes on our server: personal chest 3 × 2, reinforced chest 6 × 4, black metal chest 8 × 4, cart 8 × 3, karve 2 × 2, longship 8 × 3.
This mod also needs the library Jotunn. You don't use it directly, but it has to be installed.
Versions have to match the server exactly. A newer version won't necessarily work.
| Mod | Version | Download |
|---|---|---|
| Valheim (the game itself) | 1.0.12 (n-40) | Steam, keep it up to date |
| BepInExPack_Valheim (mod loader) | 5.4.2350 | Thunderstore (already included in the ValheimPlus zip) |
| ValheimPlus (Grantapher fork) | 0.10.1.1 on Thunderstore: 10.1.1 | GitHub release · Thunderstore |
| EquipmentAndQuickSlots | 3.0.1 | Thunderstore (zip) |
| Jotunn | 2.29.2 | Thunderstore (zip) |
Choose one method. r2modman is the easiest: it keeps the mods separate from your normal game, and you can switch back to vanilla with one click.
Valdemarshall.ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary. Click Download and select version 10.1.1.EquipmentAndQuickSlots. Click Download and select version 3.0.1 (not the latest).…\steamapps\common\Valheim).WindowsClient.zip and extract everything into the game folder. Overwrite files if asked. This includes the mod loader (BepInEx) and ValheimPlus.Jotunn.dll from the zip's plugins folder to Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\.EquipmentAndQuickSlots.dll from the zip's plugins folder to Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\.You should end up with: winhttp.dll and doorstop_config.ini in the game folder, plus ValheimPlus.dll, Jotunn.dll and EquipmentAndQuickSlots.dll in BepInEx\plugins\.
r2modman also works on Linux (AppImage), and that's the easiest option there too.
If you install manually:
UnixClient.zip into the game folder. If you play the Windows version through Proton, use WindowsClient.zip instead.Jotunn.dll and EquipmentAndQuickSlots.dll into BepInEx/plugins/, just like on Windows../start_game_bepinex.sh %command%WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%winhttp.dll in the game folder. That turns off every mod. Rename it back to turn them on again.Items in the extra equipment and quick slots stay on your character. Still, empty those slots before you remove the mod permanently.
Your ValheimPlus version doesn't match the server's, or you don't have it installed. Check the title screen (see above) and install exactly 0.10.1.1.
When Steam updates Valheim, the mods often stop working until updated versions are released. Don't just install the latest mod versions. Wait until the admin has updated the server, then update to the versions listed on this page.
Check that winhttp.dll is directly in the game folder, next to valheim.exe, and not inside a subfolder. Some antivirus programs delete this file, so you may need to add an exception.
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\Player.log. Send it to the admin if you're stuck.
